Peanut Butter Treats

½ cup butter or margarine
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup Graham cracker crumbs
2 cups icing sugar
⅓ cup chopped walnuts
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
3 tbsp butter or margarine

  1. Heat and stir peanut butter and butter in large saucepan until smooth

  2. Add graham cracker crumbs, icing sugar and walnuts. Mix well.

  3. Pour into ungreased 8" x 8" (20 x 20 cm) pan.

  4. Icing: Heat and stir chocolate chips and butter on low heat until smooth. Spread over top.

  5. Let stand until set; cut into 25 squares.

  1. We used "crunchy" peanut butter although the recipe calls for smooth.

  2. We've made it both with and without the walnuts.

  3. The recipe calls for "hard" margarine

  4. Add icing sugar slowly. You may find that slightly less than 2 cups gives a better consistency.
