Cape Breton Oat Cakes


2 cups rolled oats
2 cups all bran
2 cups white flour
1 cup white sugar
1 cup shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in scant ¾ cup warm water.


  1. Mix shortening with dry ingredients

  2. Add water gradually

  3. Roll on floured board and cut out around an inverted saucer and then cut into four sections.

  4. Bake at 350°F for 12 minutes or until done.
