Peppermint Swirls
Ingredients
½cup powdered (icing) sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
¼ teaspoon peppermint extract
½ teaspoon red food coloring
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
Directions
- Heat oven to 350°
- Beat butter, powdered sugar and vanilla in the large bowl of the mier at medium speed or with a spoon
- Stir in flour
- Divide dough in half
- add food coloring to one half of the dough
- Divide each piece of dough in half again
- On a generously flour sprinkled board, roll each piece of dough into a rope 12 inches long
- Place 1 red and 1 natural rope together and twist. Repeat with remaining dough
- Slice each twisted pair into ½ inch coins and shape each coin into a ball about 1 inch in diameter
- Place balls on an ungreased cookie sheet
- Flatten each ti about ¼ inch thickness with the greased bottom of a glass dipped in the granulated sugar
- Bake 7 to 9 minuts. Remove to rack and cool
