Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
¼ tsp salt
¾ cup sugar
1 tbsp grated lemon peel
2¼ cups flour
water
Directions
- Cream butter in large mixer bowl
- Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy
- Beat in egg, lemon peel and extract until well blended
- Gradually add in flour and salt
- Beat in water only until dough starts to come away from sides of the bowl
- Shape dough into a larfe flat disk, wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 2-3 hours
- Preheat oven to 350°F
- Roll dough on lightly floured surface to ⅛ inch thickness
- Cut with cookie cutters dipped in flour
- Place on buttered cookie sheets and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until cookies begin to brown around edges
- Cool completely. Makes about 4 dozen cookies
