Honey Vegetables Oriental
Ingredients
1 sweet red pepper, seeded and cut in squares
½ head cabbage, cut in wedges
2 cups snow peas or green beans or both
1 medium onion, cut in eights
2 Tbsp cooking oil
1 cup chicken stock (1 bouillon cube dissolved in water)
1 Tbsp cornstarch
¼ cup liquid honey
¼ cup cider vinegar
2 Tbsp soya sauce
1 cup canned water chestnuts, drained (optional)
Directions
- Heat oil and add vegetables, stirring constantly until they become just barely tender-crisp
- Combine chicken stock, cornstarch, honey, vinegar and soya sauce and pour over vegetables
- Add water chestnuts, if desired
- Heat until sauce thickens and all vegetables are glistening with sauce.
